A Large Painting

I was itching to work on a painting for me. I wanted to do something bigger than I have before. I wanted to paint koi with a black background. And I wanted to learn to paint with gouache. So I got the paper and paint. My work area is about 3 feet by 2 feet. This painting is slightly larger than that. So I’m having to adjust my work space!

Learning gouache paints is interesting. They area lot like watercolors, but different. So I am learning as I go along. So far, I like how they look, but I miss the comfort and familiarity of watercolors.

When it is finished, I look forward to displaying it at Empire’s Comic Vault next month, when I have the art wall. Meanwhile, I will try to remember to update on my Instagram and Facebook page.
